This online course was developed as an overview course for current foster and adoptive parents and child welfare practitioners as way to review some of the information given in the TIPS MAPP pre-service program. This is for Alabama residents only.
The child welfare landscape has changed considerably since MAPP was first developed in 1986. As a group, children in foster care are older and their behavioral problems more challenging. MAPP has undergone several changes to ensure that all MAPP-licensed states and agencies are able to meet the needs of a changing child and family service population, The current version, TIPS MAPP is a Trauma Informed Care practice model that considers and responds to the needs of children and families who have been maltreated and traumatized.
